THE POWER PLEDGE - I want elected politicians, not appointed cronies
It's absurd that in the 21st century half of Parliament still consists of appointed cronies and a small band of aristocrats who have inherited the right to rule.
In its current form the House of Lords is an elitist and out-dated institution that doesn't represent the diversity of the UK population.
It's essential for democracy that those who make law should be accountable to the people: we should be able to vote them in and vote them out.
A fully elected chamber is long over-due.
