Your blogs: Democracy is being eaten away

Governments are elected by the people of the UK to represent them at national and international level on a wide and ever growing range of issues. Increasingly there has been resentment about MPs behaviour, attitudes and actions, not just in government but in Parliament as a whole.

From MPs' expenses to Green Issues and War our parliament has become more interested in playing political games and point scoring than in listening to what their employers have had to say. I have felt for some time that the balance of power and decision making in our country has been wrong.

Democracy has been gradually eaten away as the British public have become marginalised by political appetites, forced into the role of spectator to their own future. When I saw what POWER 2010 was trying to do I decided that I wanted to be involved, to have my say and to put the power back into the hands of the voting British public to decide on what we want for ourselves, our children and our future.

To me, POWER 2010 is our best hope for a balanced, democratic and representative government after the next election. It's our chance to hold the politicians accountable and stop a repeat of the last few years.
