Voting at South East street stalls

21.02.2010 // by Sam Wilson

Over the weekend I have been out with volunteers running street stalls to get the public voting on ballot papers.

Yesterday I ran a street stall on Broad Street in the centre of Reading with the help of two fantastic local volunteers Mark and Nadia.

We were out in the cold urging people to vote in the last few days of the POWER2010 poll and the response we received was really great.

Despite the cold and the brigade of bagpipers that took up residence just down the road, we had lots of interest as people stopped to talk about the campaign, cast their vote and to write on the POWER2010 whiteboard!

We had people stopping to talk about a range of issues from the national employment problems to the price of local buses and trains. As you can see from the photos we had interest from all different generations of local residents!

Today I was on Cornmarket Street in Oxford with volunteer Shelley, who drove from near Swindon to come help out! Even on a chilly Sunday there was plenty of interest from the public and more ballot papers were filled out to go toward the final vote numbers.
