POWER2010 reaches out to voters in West Yorkshire

01.03.2010 // by Ghazal Tipu

The Power2010 campaign has been asking residents of West Yorkshire for THEIR views on changing politics in Britain for the better.

On 17 February, over 80 students and local residents participated in a discussion forum at Bradford University, setting out their priorities for democratic reform.

On 19 February participants at Leeds Metropolitan University's Question Time event were invited to take part in Power2010's national poll.

Pam Giddy told the audience of local students and residents that this election is an opportunity for serious political reform, and that all the main parties will have to tell us how they will change the system.

Mike Britland, Yorkshire Regional Organiser said "I have been travelling across Yorkshire, talking to members of faith groups, charity groups, campaigns and pressure groups, from members of political parties to members of the public at street stalls, and almost everyone wants to see change. This election will see a huge number of new MPs elected to the House of Commons; our job is to ensure that we don't just change the faces of the politicians, but rather change the face of politics itself."
