POWER2010 at Bedfordshire Uni

15.02.2010 // by Andrew Dixon

This week the Power2010 vote (complete with Power2010 ballot box!) came to Bedfordshire University in Luton. It was sexual health week at Bedfordshire, so Power2010 shared a stall with the community health team.

Students dropped by to pick up free condoms and vote for a different politics. Two positive messages - healthier politics and safe sex - going hand-in-hand.

We had some interesting discussions on the merits of different voting systems and the importance of more public consultation. One popular idea turned out to be compulsory politics lessons in schools.

There seemed to be a widespread agreement that a healthier democracy involved fostering a better understanding of how politics worked and how we can all be involved in the political process.
