My cunning plan…

05.03.2010 // by Tony Robinson

It's really not that funny.

Generations of people are turning their backs on politics.

To be honest, who can blame them?

When politicians seem more concerned about cleaners for their second homes than cleaning up Parliament, how can we expect people to value the process?

This leads me to POWER2010 - and indeed - my cunning plan.

Like me, POWER2010 believes that change can and should come from the grassroots. That's why I've just signed the POWER Pledge. To sign you don't have to agree with all five reforms - I only back four of them!

All you have to do is back a majority of the ideas. What's important is that you support the need for political transformation.

Why don't you take a look and add your name to our call for a reforming Parliament that will act on them?

We can't just rely on politicians, particularly if you believe as I do that Parliament is broken and the only solution is ourselves.

People often complain that they feel powerless.

But I think that we all have a duty to strive for the society and the politics that we want and deserve. In fact, we don't truly deserve it unless we're willing to work to get it.

Tens of thousands of people played a role in creating the POWER Pledge.

More than 100,000 votes were cast - each one cast by people who believe that by coming together we can and will do better.

So in truth it's not really a cunning plan. More of a real and genuine way to change our politics. For good.
