Local campaigns meet-up in Manchester

05.02.2010 // by Andy May

It's been busy work as local campaigns coordinator for POWER2010.

I've just got back from Manchester from a really interesting event hosted by the Institute for Citizenship with over a thousand young people from across the North West there to talk about politics and citizenship. As you can see from the picture several took the time to vote - there is no age bar in our poll!

POWER2010 was also at an event along with the Vote for a Change campaign. We talked with over 30 volunteers from Manchester who are organising for a big push on voting reform over the election.

Many were also concerned by the wider symptoms of decline in politics which POWER2010 is addressing.

Dozens of our partner organisations, from the Taxpayers Alliance, to Progress, from the Countryside Alliance to Action Aid have been encouraging supporters to get involved in the vote and we're extremely grateful to the dozens of organisations involved so far in contributing to the debate.

You can get involved locally too. POWER2010 campaigners are holding a series of meetings across the country to get local people and communities involved in the vote and ensure that when the election campaign comes, candidates are going to hear about people's priorities for reform.

If you want to find out more on whats happening in your area, make sure you sign up so one of our organisers can contact you.

Andy May is local campaigns co-ordinator for POWER2010.
