05.10.2009 // by GuestThis idea comes from Greg in Swindon:
What's the big idea?:
Reduce the term served by MPs to a maximum of four years or even less.
Why is this change important to you?:
In this fast changing world, too much damage can be done by a majority government over a five year period. Plus five years is too long a period for the electorate to have to stomach a plethora of broken electoral promises. Witness the final transfer of sovereignty to the EU with the Lisbon Treaty that might have been prevented if MPs knew that they were coming up for re-election and had been forced to provide the referendum promised. This would also have the effect of sharpening up a non-effective opposition.
