Ideas: MPs are local residents

28.10.2009 // by Guest

This idea comes from Bruce in Aberdeenshire:

What's the big idea?:

Candidates for an MP should be a person who has been resident in the constituency he/she is standing for election for at least 4/5 years.

Why is this change important to you?:

An MP can only have an understanding of the people he represents and the needs of a community if he has been resident in the constituency. Importing candidates who have zero experience in a constituency they wish to represent can not fulfill the basic needs of the local people and community
