Ideas: MEP reports

29.11.2009 // by Guest

This idea comes from Michael in Hexham:

What's the big idea?:

Each member of the European Parliament should have to report back through Parliament to the UK electorate twice a year: what they have cost the European taxpayer; what they have done; what they have achieved; and what they plan to do in the next 12 months. There should be a public score card on how effective each MEP and each party has been, in terms of promoting new legislation, and opposing draft legislation.

Why is this change important to you?:

We, UK voters, haven't a clue what our MEPs do for us. Or what they cost. To keep them on their toes, they need to be reminded that they are public servants, who have a duty to the public that elected them.
