30.01.2010 // by George GabrielAs the unique movement taking shape behind POWER2010 rumbles into life people across the country from all sectors of society are starting to shake themselves off, and ready themselves to make a change.
The public vote continues with people having their say on the shape of democracy by the thousand, and with our regional organisers taking their positions people are coming together.
This group in Bath gathered one wintry night to sign the POWER2010 declaration stating that:
• Power should rest with the people, not politicians
• That change can, and should, come from the grassroots
• That politics is broken but can be fixed if we act now
• We pledge to work together to do so
And as people come alive politicians are beginning to take note.
At today's Progressive London conference you could see Ed Miliband carefully considering his vote, to be counted like everyone else's as we work together to forge a set of people's proposals for democratic renewal.
The next time we see him, it'll be with an army of constituents in Doncaster North.
George Gabriel is partnerships coordinator for POWER2010.
