Why should dictatorships which all corporations are, be allowed to lobby government to implement or change policies or legislation at all?, Corporate lobbying is never in the common interest it is always to maximise profit for the few shareholders, owners and top executives, at the workforce, societies and the environments expense. We all know this!
You might think stopping corporate lobbying and curbing the power of the corporate Government partnership will never happen. you would probably be right, this just shows how much power through the media and Government a tiny minority of elite have over the rest of the population thus rendering democracy an illusion, a Joke, something that will never come from the top down and has been fought against every step of the way for hundreds of years. Now all main parties are Corporatist so voting won't help reduce corporate power, other than voting we have been convinced to stick to, petitions, legal protests or maybe a tee-shirt campaign then one day in the distant future we will make a tiny step towards democracy and we will all rejoice.
The whole system which is now global is designed by the few to benefit the few and to take that away from them will take more than a petition, even if more people signed this petition than voted the current Government in, it would still be at best debated for years lobbied against, buried, dug up, chewed, rewritten, lost , found and eventually watered down enough to be acceptable to the few. I have to accept I will never see a democratic society and certainly never see democratic corporate values and at this rate neither will my daughter.

Incidentally a very similar proposal after a long campaign and a long wait was rejected last October by our chastened Government who are looking to be more transparent and accountable.

It says the Government
'Has not accepted the Committee's case for a statutory register of lobbying activity'
'Did not accept that details of meetings between officials and outside groups should be published'.
'Has not specified a time frame within which it will make an assessment of the industry's progress towards effective self-regulation'.

It seems I'm succumbing to one of their tools of control, feeling powerless, so I voted for this and look forward to our incoming prime minister the plastic PR man implementing immediately the proposed changes on all his old mates.

Words are the stuff of power, no more so than in primary legislation.

As an aid to transparent lobbying, I would like to see simple measures that allow the layman to understand legislation and also leave an information shadow of lobbying activities.

Things like page numbers, indexes and - most of all - word counts i.e. what word was inserted or removed, by whom, and at what stage in the passage of a Bill. With computers this should take seconds and would cost nothing. This would streamline parliamentary research and provide a resource for members of the public who want to find out more about laws that they are affected by.

Too much to ask?

It's usually 'Animal Farm' but how can we do this without upsetting a fare few? Do you vote or do you squander it? when I give my time or money to any cause, i don't then tell them how to do it, whatever that 'it' is. A Government is weak if it allows to be spoken to by these corporations-playground bullying: both are at fault, one for doing that and other for accepting.
People argue about and over 'conservatism' or 'labour' or whatever political party. One, arguing never achieves a winner and, two, if that party are not benifiting the populace then simply they should not be in 'leadership':people govern and government of the day implement. Not fashisism, communism or totalitarianism say and we moan, though blindly follow.

Aren't the politicians our servants? Time for transparency . Ww need to see what decisions do these people make in the voters best interests and not in the interests of corporations and foreign powers.

Former MEPs lobby on behalf of the European Union as MPs and Peers. They stand to gain large earnings either through current or future pensions. Would they be lobbyists for this purpose?

Quite simple IT IS NOW THE TIME TO CLEAN UP POLITICS. People must take the reponsibility of ensuring politics and politicians are always working for the populations interest and not paying all their attention to corporations and private enterprises.
