I think this is considerably more important regarding civil servants & if it hasn't stopped them doing so....

How about ensuring that prospective MP's have experienced working life on the 'shop floor' prior to entering the Westminster type of politics and thus negating those who join straight from university and progress through researcher etc to prospective candidate and ultimately MP, all without the any of the life experienced in the commercial world.
In addition, why should a prospective candidate be chosen by ethnicity, sex etc instead of who is the best for representing their constituants?

I also think there should be a minimum age of 39 or 40 for prospective MPs, ensuring their (possible) wisdom & experience.

After the last 12 years in particular, but also as a result of my experience of politics and politicians during all my voting life, I don't think ANYTHING will ever restore my faith in politicians. However, I've voted for this measure because it is at least a positive step in the right direction.

Tony Blair working for Merrill Lynch while pretending to be Peace Envoy for the Middle East was a farce.

He is, in fact, milking the system beyond belief. This is corruption as we have never seen it before.

Did you know that Merrill Lynch's "Disaster Recovery" Media Advisors are a company called Press Alert, created by KATHRYN HOLLOWAY, who also happens to be the Media Advisor to Visor Consulting, who were the group/company running a "mock" scenario of the 7/7 bombings as disclosed by Peter Powers on the BBC News the same day & in all probability they were running that scenario on behalf of the Government, given their connections?

MR Blair mat be out of office , but is still playing his cards in the same way, Our Country , our way of life now means nothing .
The labour Party did not want Nuclear Power Stations , now they say you are having them.
The Labour Party fought to do rid this country of National Service , now they overload our brave men and Women . The other Parties stand by and say very little . A tryst of the three main parties has been woven .

It is interesting to note that all of the existing comments below are the very things that worry us all.

it is interesting to note that all of the comments below are those things that worry many people. It also shows that people do understand what is going on , they are also tired of hearing the word democracy , as they know how everything is distorted to suit a paricular group also particular members of parliament , Common sence and real consideration are not being undertaken , except when these groups want something for themselves
