Caroline Lucas signs the POWER2010 pledge

22.03.2010 // by Sam Wilson

Leader of the Green Party and parliamentary candidate for Brighton Pavillion, Caroline Lucas, has signed the POWER2010 pledge and shown her support for reforming our system.

Whilst organising the street stall that we ran in Brighton on Sunday, I made a point to contact the local candidates to let them know that would be campaigning in their constituency and give them the opportunity to show their support for the POWER2010 pledge.

Although she was unable to meet with us on Sunday and sign the pledge in person, Caroline was eager to show her support for the campaign.

Caroline said:

"I'm delighted to have signed the Power Pledge, which backs - among other things - a proportional voting system, an elected second chamber and scrapping ID cards.

Greens believe that a truly proportional voting system is the only way to ensure a genuinely democratic and representative parliament, which would see more women in Westminster and a wider range of voices heard.

POWER2010 is a great campaign and a real champion for democracy, and if elected I pledge to work hard to bring about the electoral reforms which are so urgently needed."
