Candidates sign up in Slough

22.03.2010 // by Hashim Zaheer

Slough is affectionately known as being a dull and dreary place. It was hardly a surprise then that we were welcomed with rain and ice cold winds to Slough High Street, during a mercurial March month. Such was the weather that we purchased fizzy drink cans, not to drink, but to use as paperweights to hold our stall down!

I setup the stall with Bill and after a slow start people came along to see what the POWER2010 pledge was all about.

Our first high profile visitor was Chris Tucker (Libdem) PPC who signed the pledge, by agreeing with it in its entirety. He also gave us an interview, where he highlighted his reform credentials and vowed to ‘genuinely clean up the system'.

Our final high profile visitor was Diana Coad (Conservative) PPC who signed the pledge by supporting three points, which were scrapping ID cards, introducing a written constitution and English votes for English laws. She also gave us an interview with her thoughts on the specific points that she supported and called for a ‘fresh start' to politics.

Overall, we had an eventful day, with POWER2010 making an impact upon the people of Slough.
