Take Back Parliament, the UK's largest democratic reform campaign, arrives this Sunday in Bristol to launch the “Yes” campaign for May's referendum on AV. The group has enrolled more than 50,000 people so far and is forming groups in every major city across the country. The latest event - a “purple picnic” - takes place this Sunday at 2pm, outside Bristol's Council House.

South West co-ordinator Jack Phillips said: “This referendum is a once in a lifetime opportunity to change politics for good. Anyone who cares about the future of democracy in this country should come down and make their voice heard.”

Take Back Parliament, which gained recognition after May's general election, is a broad coalition of groups including Power2010, Unlock Democracy and the Electoral Reform Society. The campaign is not aligned to any political party, and has come to be associated with the colour purple, for its connections with suffrage and the struggle for the vote. Focused primarily on the campaign for proportional representation, Take Back Parliament is currently working to ensure a “Yes” result in the referendum on Alternative Vote. More information can be found on the group's website www.takebackparliament.com.
