04.02.2010 // by Pam GiddyWhilst Sir Thomas Legg's report may help draw a line under the immediate crisis of expenses it is only the first step on a long journey to fix our rotten system.
MPs will have to swallow Legg's medicine, but more drastic surgery will be needed before the patient discovers full health.
MPs should not be deluded into thinking that this will 'fix things' nor should they believe public anger will be tempered.
The expenses scandal is just one symptom of a rotting political system - what is needed above all is real democracy, transparency and choice, so that voters set the rules and not the politicians.
Power2010 gives the public the chance to set the rules by choosing the top reforms they want to see out of the next Parliament.
Reforms being voted on include a right to recall disgraced MPs and to vote "None of the Above" at elections.
The top 5 ideas will form the backbone of a nationwide campaign at the next election which all parties and candidates will be asked to sign up to.
